Conjugal Partner is neither common-law partners nor marriage is possible because of
marital status, sexual orientation, religious conflicts or immigration barrier. There is no
specific point when a commitment is made and there is no legal document attesting to
the commitment. Instead, there is a definite building of intimacy and emotional ties and
the accumulation of other types of evidence such as naming one another as
beneficiaries on insurances, investments, RSP-Contribution or bank savings; joint
decision-making with consequences for one partner affecting the other; economic or
financial support of one another; social activities showing their relationship to public
and other proof that the relationship is recognized by direct families and friends.
Concrete proof of contacts/communications and support evidences of sponsor’s visit to
principal applicant should not also be disregarded. Most importantly, Conjugal Properties (land, car, house entitlement).

This kind of application will bring into focus that the option of marriage to the applicants are
unattainable due to same-sex marriage is not recognized to their country of origin.
