After weeks of badgering, our cat Pascal finally got what he wanted, his own castle! ...Kind off. Since we didn't have that much space over and really needed another shelf, we smacked two needs together and made a CAT CLIMBING SHELF!

We set out to get the building materials we needed from our favorite local disposal center, to both save some money and the planet, but ended up finding the perfect (although somewhat crooked) Tetris shelf that someone had already built!
With the magic of sanding, painting, puzzling and some addressable led-lighting (DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE LED LIGHTS!), we turned this unpolished turd into something beautiful!

This is what we used:

➼ Sandpaper - 400
➼ Damp cloth for cleaning after sanding
➼ High gloss furniture paint - Neutral white
➼ Flat metal mounts for assembling
➼ Addressable led-strips (Just Google, there´s sooo many good variants)
➼ Circuit Playground Express ( https://www.adafruit.com/product/3333 )
➼ 3d printed case wor CPE ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:277... )
➼ Electrical wire ( We salvage ours from a multi-cable, but any single-core wire works)
➼ Chisel/something to carv with for countersink the ledstrips (or use a multitool if you have one)
➼ Soldering gear

Code for addressing multiple colors to a single led-strip can be learned how to here:
   • MakeCode Minute: NeoPixel Sub-Strips ...

We thought this was TOTALLY WORTH IT, and we hope you did too! If so:

Pascal and his subjects (aka Robin and Ellinor) would be thrilled if you gave this a THUMBS UP and a COMMENTED below! And also- Please SUBSCRIBE if you want to support us and be up to date for new videos!
