From 2008 to 2012, philanthropist Dennis Avery, an heir to the Avery Label fortune, commissioned artist Ricardo Breceda to create metal sculptures throughout Galletta Meadows Estate, multiple parcels of land owned by Avery, in Borrego Springs. The works were based on the book "Fossil Treasures Of The Anza Borrego Desert" (2006) which Avery Admired. Breceda created sculptures of mythical creatures, dinosaurs, extinct animals as well as historic personas, including a Native American Chief, a Spanish Padre, a gold miner with his mule, and migrant farm workers. All in all, Breceda created 131 "Sky Art" sculptures installed at 28 sites in Borrego Valley. Come with me, as I walk and explore some of the really awesome ones! In beautiful HDR, Stereo.
