Louisa Peck, a writer and academic, transformed from creating melancholic fiction featured in journals like Northwest Review to writing in a new, upbeat style post-sobriety. Holding a BA from Vassar and an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Washington, she's taught at various colleges and directed the UW’s English Department Writing Center. She now edits dissertations and teaches writing individually.

Louisa is an avid adventurer, scaling major mountains, embarking on extensive hikes, and completing a Seattle to San Francisco bike tour. An advanced-intermediate ballet dancer up until the pandemic, she currently practices yoga and weightlifting, is a vegetarian with backyard chickens, and mother to a son in college.

As a Near Death Experiencer, Louisa is engaged with the International Association of Near Death Studies, interviewing NDErs for the bi-monthly newsletter for the Seattle group and sharing her insights and paranormal experiences post-Near Death Experience at conferences around the country.

Her new book, Die-Hard Atheist: from NDE Denier to Full-On Woo-Woo - Against my Will,” recounts her battle to suppress the series of paranormal events that followed her NDE as her guardian angel began steering her toward a better way of life. Her addiction memoir , A Spiritual Evolution, humorously yet poignantly recounts her journey through alcoholism, recovery via the 12 steps, and her life-altering Near Death Experience, affirming her belief in a spirit world driven by profound love.
