In this video I set up an Oilskin tarp in a lean-to configuration with some walls on either side to block more wind. Brought along two drum liners / contractor bags to fill with leaves for comfort, but also to battle conduction from the ground as it was going to be pretty chilly. Temperatures dropped to just below freezing. These temperatures would be too cold for the two thin wool blankets I brought along, so a long fire was going to be needed to get me through the night. Took the time to build a wall of logs and rocks behind my fire for thermal mass to push the heat back toward my body. There were some gaps in the walls at my head and feet which allowed some cold air through, but for the most part the tarp along with those walls did a pretty good job of circulating the heat around my body. Had to toss some logs on the fire every couple hours, but had a pretty good sleep. Stayed nice and warm all night!
