The rock and roll world has lost one of its greatest guitarists after the announcement of Eddie Van Halen’s death on October 6, 2020. The virtuoso performer died of a stroke, but he had been battling numerous health ailments over the years. Van Halen had been struggling with alcoholism and drug abuse throughout his career, as he began drinking and smoking at the age of 12. He has also undergone hip replacement surgery and was diagnosed with tongue lung and throat cancer. Van Halen was also recently hospitalized in 2019 and he had to postpone tour dates in Japan.
