Psych is one of precious few shows that went for such a long time yet maintained both a likable cast and a formula that remained highly watchable even until the final episode. With a brilliant detective for a main character, it stands to reason that once he finally met his match with some sort of super criminal, their clash would be riveting and have deep roots in the show's mythos. Sadly, the Big Bad(s) seemed to be pulled from nowhere, and while still laying groundwork for excellent displays of Shawn's abilities, their lack of a well-established motivation left much to be desired for the status of "arch nemesis" - that is, of course, until Psych: The Movie came around.
