This video is not monetized, and all pieces used have been trimmed/edited/mixed. Two of the pieces were composed by Martin O'Donnell/Michael Salvatori (of Bungie Studios circa 2001 and 2007) for Halos CE and 3 (respectively); and one of the pieces was arranged by Paul Lipson/Lennie Moore/Brian Trifton/Brian Lee White/Tom Salta (of 343 Industries circa 2011) for Halo CEA. I doubt saying these things will stop potential copyright strikes, but it was worth a shot... :P

Two unrelated mix videos in the span of a week? What timeline is this??

In all seriousness, I originally wasn’t planning to work on another music-based video so soon. At the time, I was more concerned with fixing up the SoundCloud uploads (on that note, I’m still trying to figure out the best route for getting the H4 stuff on there). However, the previous video just so happened to be released on Veterans Day weekend. On the day itself, I was scrolling through some of the in-game tracks in CE until I stumbled upon the classic “Brothers in Arms” theme. I thought to myself, ‘hey this is pretty in-theme for today, I wonder what this track entails in each of the games?’ Turns out, CE/CEA each have two in-game versions (one that focuses on the flute/percussion and one that focuses on the strings), and 3 has two of its own (one that focuses on the horns and one that is purely drums). All I had to do was lay a couple of these over each other (in particular, the H3 horns over the CE flute) and I just knew that I had to do a mini-medley for them. So after a week of tinkering with this project... happy belated Veterans Day I guess?

The layout is pretty simple on paper (being more along the lines of Impose), but it did require me to flex my in-game loop muscles considerably more than for the previous video (by the way, I decided to mostly leave out the ST versions of these tracks since they’re basically combinations of the pairs of in-game tracks). I started out with the drums of the CE version, then threw on a hint of 3’s intro horns, then bolstered the percussion with 3’s drums, then after the first CE flute section gave a few heavy CE/3 percussion loops, then led into the CE strings, then threw the CEA strings on top of that, then finally brought in the (awesome) CEA flute/3 horn combo to finish it out. In the end, I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I hope you guys will feel the same way! Enjoy!
