Every shot from my round at the Wernddu Golf Club near Abergavenny, Monmouthshire on April 18th 2024.

It was one of those perfect early still spring mornings and I managed to get out and get golfing to make the most of it. I'd not heard much about Wernddu before but I was really pleased I came as it turned out to be a great experience, with the weather, the golf and the birdsong all being wonderful. The course had obviously suffered with the volume of water as most others have done through the very wet winter and as such, holes 2-10 were still in the process of being prepared for the better weather to come. As such, the fairways were not fully cut and quite damp but the greens were in good condition and I played the "over the road" holes, even though I wasn't sure if I should have!

It didn't detract from the experience at all as the weather and the morning was so perfect. The "front 9" holes are actually more of a challenge, being longer and more technical than the back 9 (nearer the clubhouse) but it's a great blend of a course, with quite a few water hazards around to catch those wayward shots.

All the members I chatted to were really friendly and the general feeling around the club was very relaxed. The site is shared with a caravan park and there is also a very well priced driving range on the site too.

My golf was fairly average today although my driving was pretty erratic. Just a single #birdie today but I was more than happy with the day as a whole with some lovely memories made on a super course which I'll certainly return to again.
