Located on a mountain in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. Sets this incredible apocalypse proof mansion. Vernon Pick was born in Wisconsin in 1903. He left home at the age of 16 and joined the Marines. After this he worked as a Miner in Manitoba. Vernon ran an electrical company for 17 years. Vernon has very little formal education. Only 1 year of high school he took a few electrical courses. Vernon was a self educated electrical engineer. In 1951 Vernon and his wife bought a trailer and traveled to Colorado where Vernon caught Uranium fever. At age 48 he spent 9 hard months prospecting in the Utah Canyonlands when he’s hard work paid off. He found Uranium. Vernon was famous for staking one of the largest uranium mines in Delta Colorado in 1952. Uranium is used for fuel for nuclear power plants and the nuclear reactors that run naval ships and submarines. It also can be used in nuclear weapons. He was called the uranium king of America. He later sold his mine in 1954 for $10 million dollars approx. $100 million dollars today. There was over 300,000 tons of ore that Time magazine called “one of the richest finds in the Colorado. Vernon was a millionaire.
In 1965 he decided to buy land in British Columbia, Canada. He built a hydro electric dam and a long term survival and apocalypse proof style mansion. It had 2 foot thick walls and bullet proof glass. The dam provided power to the house. The house has no driveway and he used an electric mining tram to access to mansion. Vernon was very secretive of the mansions real purpose. He told locals it was built to withstand forest fires. But others say it was built as a long term survival retreat. Vernon was a heavy smoker and died in 1986 at the age of 83. After his death most of his personal belongings and equipment was auctioned off. Sadly vandals have damaged the house over the years. The property was bought and the dam continues to operate generating power. There is plans in the future to preserve Vernon's house.

About me:
I have been exploring abandoned places since I was a child and now I would like to film the explores and share the videos with you.
My father took me to my first abandoned house when I was 7 years old. I remember going into the house and a old farmer came in and told us "we better watch out as the floors are all rotten and unsafe". Ever since that day I was hooked on exploring abandoned places.
If you have a location you would like to share with me or want me to explore for you please send me an email at [email protected] and I will give you full credit for the share in the description and during the video if you choose.
