The Augusta International Raceway Preservation Society (AIRPS) is an organization dedicated to preserving the history of Augusta International Raceway. AIRPS president Henry Jones spearheaded a successful effort to save the old speedway from demolition. In 2005 they celebrated the victory with a memorial dedication ceremony at Diamond Lakes Regional Park. The park sits on portions of the old raceway. A monument was unveiled with engraved names of drivers that had participated in races at the complex's eight tracks. The event then moved next door to the adjacent housing community under developement. A street dedication ceremony was held and racing champions Dave MacDonald, Fireball Roberts, TJ Kelly and Frank Warren were honored with street names. Dave MacDonald Dr was christened as the main road running through the entire community. Augusta International Raceways road course was constructed in 1963 but only three races were ever run - two USRRC events and one NASCAR. MacDonald competed in all three finishing 1st in a King Cobra, 2nd in a Cobra Roadster and 2nd to teammate Fireball Roberts in NASCAR's Augusta 510
