The Battle of Visby took place in 1361 on the island of Gotland. The bitter fighting between the forces of the Danish King and the forces from the Gutnish Country Yeomen resulted in a very one sided battle with the Danish forces taking a third less casualties than the Gotlandic natives. Several mass graves were found form the battle starting in the early 1900s. These huge caches provided us with an incredible insight into the brutal reality of medieval warfare.
