This is an excerpt from my interview with Urban Valor TV. The interview can be viewed in its entirety on their YouTube channel. I have attached a link below.

My intention with this clip is only to bring awareness to those interested in the story and honor his service.

This is the story of my platoon leaving a Marine in the middle of the desert. This incident was a major embarrassment for the Corps for several decades.

Just to be clear, I had not yet reported for duty to Kilo 3/2 when this happened. I was actually home on leave after leaving barracks duty in Norfolk when I saw the news. I was staying with my mom in Glendora California.

For some reason, over the years it was my understanding that that I may have actually taken Rother’s place in the platoon. However, at the time of this interview, I could not confirm this, so I left it out of my commentary.

Since this was initially aired over a month ago on Urban Valor, I have spoken with several others that were also in 3/2 Kilo. I have confirmed that Jason was in 2nd platoon. When Kilo came back from the CAX, along with a couple others, I was assigned to 2nd platoon as well. So I guess in theory it’s possible.

Ironically, after everything calmed down, this really wasn’t spoke about that much. Most everyone directly involved were gone.

About a year later, 3/2 India had a fatal live fire accident while we were in Okinawa. I also tell this story in my Urban Valor interview.

Thanks for watching and commenting.
