Mr. Vampire is a 1985 Hong Kong horror comedy film directed by Ricky Lau and produced by Sammo Hung, starring Hui Koon-Ying, Chin Siu-Ho and Lam Ching-Ying. Combining horror, martial arts, folklore and comedy, the film was the breakthrough success of the Chinese vampire fiction genre, a popular trend in Hong Kong during the 1980s. The “vampire” in this film refers to a type of Chinese monster named jiang-shi (geong-si in Cantonese), they are blood thirsty hopping corpses of the Chinese folklore. The timeline of the plot was set in the earliest stage of Republican-era China (sovereign state based in mainland China between 1912 and 1949), when a very skilled Taoist Master and his two bumbling assistants goes on to battle against vengeful vampires and ghosts. Their choice of weapon and methods (the Taoist Master is the only one really skilled in any of these) to eliminate these supernatural beings are kung-fu, spell casting, ritual performance, and usage of various traditional combat weapons.

The Ghost Bride is a theme song from a sub-plot in the movie which features a female ghost who fell in love with a living man (one of the main characters), she seduced the man and tried to keep him with her.
