Welcome to a new high speed trip report! We're in Italy, traveling with private operator NTV. NTV operates the "Italo" trains, and today we are taking one from Florence to Bologna. Italo runs on an Open Access basis, and their low fares have forced state operator Trenitalia to drastically lower the fares of their own high speed trains. Now, the vast majority of Italians choose the train over flying or driving between city pairs like Rome and Milan.
