You don't have to look very hard before someone would suggest you need to insulate buildings lots before you can install a heat pump. But how much insulation do we need? And if we care about reducing emissions as quickly as possible... what should we do?

I try to talk through why I think Fabric First is a distraction, and making progress on emissions reduction could mean making sure homes have double glazing and loft insulation, but not much more... and then we are ready for heat pumps.
