Many times, the advice I'd give to a beginner is the exact opposite of what I'd tell an advanced guy. And then there might even be a third different option for an intermediate guy! This paradox can make learning game difficult and confusing, but it really shouldn't and doesn't have to. Beginners, intermediates and advanced students should be doing different things ON THE SURFACE, but on a deeper level, there are fundamental principles of game that apply at all levels, and when you understand these principles, the apparent paradoxes go away.
