A good Samaritan is now seeing firsthand that “no good deed goes unpunished” after her selfless act that went viral on TikTok, has now led to a legal battle with GoFundMe. Sanai Graden, a student in Washington DC, was vlogging on her way to the store when she decided to go above and beyond to help a homeless man, Alonzo Douglas-Hebron, whom she met along the way. The ordeal got so much attention online that she set up a GoFundMe to help Alonzo get back on his feet. A GoFundMe campaign that ultimately raised $403,000 on Alonzo’s behalf. However, after a local news station released a story making claims about Alonzo’s criminal history, Graden claimed that GoFundMe refused to release the money and even believed the issue could be racially motivated. Is there more to the story? And what does GoFundMe have to say about it all? The Shade Room investigates…

TSR Investigates explores cold cases and special interest news stories underrepresented in mainstream media.
