Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that Tokyo was not aware of any reports of him requesting a summit with North Korean leader. On March 25, Kim Jong Un's sister claimed that Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida had requested a summit with her brother. However, she added that the "history of the DPRK-Japan relations gives a lesson that it is impossible to improve the bilateral relations.” Kim Yo Jong’s claim comes as Kishida has recently expressed a desire to improve ties, which Pyongyang has hinted it is not opposed to. In February, Kim's sister, who serves in the ruling Workers' Party, said Kishida may one day visit Pyongyang.
