In an interview that will cause a political earthquake in the Modi government, the Bharatiya Janata Party and Jammu and Kashmir whilst, possibly, cheering the Congress Party and Rahul Gandhi, Satya Pal Malik, the last Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, before it was divided and reduced to union territory status, says “mein safely keh sakta hoon Prime Minister ko corruption se bahut nafrat nahin hain”. Mr. Satya Pal Malik, who was Governor during the Pulwama terrorist attack and the abrogation of Article 370, also says the Prime Minister is “ill-informed” and “ignorant” about Kashmir adding pointedly ‘mast hain apne mein – to hell with it!”

In a one hour wide-ranging interview, that covers enormous ground, Mr. Malik first spoke about several things that happened when he was Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.


He revealed the attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama was a result of “incompetence” and “laparvahi” by the Indian system and specifically the CRPF and the Home Ministry. At the time Rajnath Singh was Home Minister. Mr. Malik gave extensive details of how the CRPF had asked for aircraft to transport its jawans but was refused by the Home Ministry. He gave details of how sanitization of the route was not done effectively. All the details are in the interview.
