A few years (and four million euros) later, the expansion of the Dutch royal crypt is ready. King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess Beatrix were closely involved in the creation of the austere, new part, which is above all very practical. Not only can 24 royal family members be interred, there is also an urn wall. In addition, the family can now descend the stairs through a normal door to the new cellar, which is connected to the old parts. Previously, this had to be done by lifting a heavy stone.
