May 21, 2023.
Footage from a day trackside on Norfolk Southern's NC-line (former Southern Railway) and the CSX A-line, South End Subdivision (former Atlantic Coast Line) parallel to nearby I-95.

On this overcast spring day, several daylight freight trains came through the Selma area, along with Amtrak's phase I heritage unit on the northbound Silver Star. Amtrak's daily Palmetto was cancelled for equipment shortages, so numbers 89 and 90 were not seen that day. On Norfolk Southern, a rare Union pacific SD70AH lead inbound 350, and a loaded Potash train departed Selma for Morehead City with Canadian National power trailing, adding to the variety seen that day.

The sun came out towards the evening, providing "golden hour" sunlight for evening traffic on CSX. The highlight of the evening was southbound M652 with two fresh SD70MAC rebuilds, seen racing south through downtown Micro. The final catch of the day was southbound I031 with several Tropicana reefer cars, which were recently brought back on the daily intermodals.
