Skoda has plans to roll out six new electric vehicles (EVs) by 2026, with the Epiq slated to be the most budget-friendly option among them. Set to hit the market next year, the Epiq is eyeing a price point starting at about €25,000 (approximately $27,000 based on the current exchange rates). Described as "small but epic," this vehicle marks Skoda's entry into the EV market and will showcase the company's new "Modern Solid" design philosophy.

Details on the Epiq are still under wraps, especially concerning its technical aspects. However, Skoda has hinted that the EV will feature a battery pack capable of powering the car for more than 249 miles (400 kilometers), likely based on the WLTP cycle's standards.

The vehicle will be built on the MEB Entry platform, specifically designed for front-wheel drive electric vehicles, contrasting with the standard MEB platform that supports the larger Enyaq with rear-wheel drive. Vehicles on the MEB platform within the VW Group that are more premium and robust offer all-wheel drive by incorporating an additional motor in the front. It's unclear if the MEB Entry platform vehicles will also adopt this all-wheel configuration in the future.

The "Modern Solid" design theme Skoda is introducing aims to give their upcoming models a more rugged look. The Epiq showcases this through plastic guards around its wheel arches and sections of the rear bumpers that are left unpainted.

Unlike the Enyaq, which has its charging port at the rear, the Epiq features its charging port on the front fender. The vehicle also sports contrasting orange highlights both inside and out, and features a distinctive light bar that spans the width of its grille. Presently, the Epiq is closer to a near-production prototype, suggesting its design will likely see little change by 2025. Skoda is positioning it as a design study rather than a full-blown concept.
