In this video we sum the values by weekday using a formula in Excel.

The formula uses the WEEKDAY function to identify the day of the week of a specific date. This is the used in a condition to sum values.

To do this with one Excel formula we used the SUMPRODUCT function. This can handle arrays. If we used SUMIF we would need 2 formulas because of the array of dates.

The formula is then extended by using VLOOKUP and a helpful lookup table. A drop down list is created for simple weekday selection and then the formula runs.
