In this video essay we'll be looking at 18 episodes that demonstrate SpongeBob's main problem-Immaturity.
Mostly I'll talk about the 3 issues he has because of his immaturity-
Being Naive-which makes him susceptible to manipulation that can hurt himself and others-and leads him to commit multiple crimes. (Nasty Patty-and MORE!)
Self-Control---because of his immaturity, he struggles to control his emotions-it leads him to bottle up his feelings and struggle to express them-which then leads to him fighting his friends or he struggles to not let things go to his head and become obsessed.
And finally, insecurity-he doesn't want to be seen as a kid-therefore he goes to great lengths to mask his immaturity with fame (as seen on TV), skill (Karate Island) and wealth (Porous Pockets) and more.

Well also be diving deeper in the Deep dives to discuss more in depth in each of the 3 issues.
