After decades of Louisiana French being formally banned in public education, 1968 marked a turning point in our State's history as laws were passed for the first time to promote French in education and culture. Over 50 years later, there has been a new resurgence of Louisiana French in recent years in education, music, politics, and media, including the launch of La Veillée on LPB in 2022.


Do these developments constitute a second Louisiana French Renaissance? We explore what these initiatives mean for the future of Louisiana French in our season 2 finale with two francophone legislators, Senator Jeremy Stine and Representative Dewith Carrier.
