In January 1993, Nirvana played the Hollywood Rock Festival, which gave birth to the band's most infamous show; their São Paulo gig on January 16th. The Rio performance on January 23rd was rather troubled as well, but is generally regarded as being much better.

Nirvana was known for their intense and chaotic live shows, but their São Paulo performance somehow managed to break new ground. Incredibly sloppy performances, incomplete songs, substandard covers and destruction plagued this show.

But there is an explanation for the disaster of São Paulo.
