Are you having issues with your battery life, keyboard backlight not working right, or the fans on your Mac are coming on all the time when they didn't before?

Try resetting the SMC, it controls those things + more. It could resolve your problem.

This video applies to those Macbook Pro's or Air's from 2018 and later, for years prior the method is easier.

Here are the steps:

1st:

-Go to the  Apple menu and choose “Shut Down” to turn off the Mac
-Once your Mac is off, press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds
Release holding the power button, then wait a few seconds.
-Press the Power button again to turn the Mac on.

2nd:

-Shut down your Mac by going to the  Apple menu and choose “Shut Down”
-After the Mac is turned off, press and hold the left OPTION key, and the left CONTROL key & the right SHIFT key for 7 seconds
-Keep holding all three keys for 7 seconds, then press and hold the power button as well. If your Mac is on, it will turn off as you hold the keys.
