Scuderia Ferrari is currently conducting tests on the new spray guards developed in collaboration with the FIA. The testing kicked off on Thursday morning at the Fiorano circuit, with Ferrari junior drivers Arthur Leclerc and Oliver Bearman participating in this special day of track activities. Arthur Leclerc took to the track in the SF-75 car equipped with spray guards, while Oliver Bearman drove the SF-24 adorned with the livery used in the recent Miami Grand Prix.

The home circuit of the Prancing Horse was artificially soaked, allowing the Ferrari driven by Arthur Leclerc, outfitted with wheel fairings, to position itself ahead of the red car piloted by Ollie Bearman. This setup aimed to assess the level of visibility achievable when heavy rain necessitates the use of Pirelli full wet tires (the blue compound), which results in significant water flow and poses visibility challenges rather than grip issues for the cars on the track.

Last year at the Silverstone circuit, experiments were conducted with less intrusive solutions on Formula 1 cars, but these yielded unsatisfactory results and were subsequently abandoned. However, at the Fiorano track, a notably different and more invasive concept is being tested: both the front and rear wheels are enveloped by carbon fiber discs that completely encase the tires.

Upon closer inspection, "windows" have been observed on the front view of these discs, which will be progressively opened or closed throughout the day to evaluate the tire's behavior, water displacement, and the impact of spray on the following driver.

This experimental approach is considered "extreme" as it fully covers the tires. However, a careful examination of these rather unattractive discs reveals possible side panels that could be removed, indicating that the design is still under development. Nonetheless, the system enables precise evaluation of the threshold at which visibility begins to deteriorate.

In this captivating video, we dive deep into Ferrari's cutting-edge spray guard testing at their iconic Fiorano circuit. Witness the meticulous process as the engineering team pushes the limits of aerodynamic innovation, ensuring their vehicles are prepared to tackle even the most challenging weather conditions.

With exclusive insights from the track, we'll uncover the science and technology behind these rigorous tests, showcasing Ferrari's commitment to delivering unparalleled performance and reliability. Prepare to be amazed as we explore the future of automotive engineering through the lens of this legendary Italian marque.
