resident Joe Biden will visit Charlotte this week to meet with the families of officers who were killed in Monday's standoff, a city source told WCNC Charlotte's Nate Morabito.

Biden is expected to arrive Thursday and he will meet with the families. Five additional officers were injured during the shooting, including three Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers.

The injured officers were identified as Chris Talley, Michael Giglio, Jack Blowers and Joshua Campbell. Jennings said three of the officers were released from the hospital Tuesday. Talley, an 18-year veteran of the force, was recovering from surgery and remained hospitalized. The Statesville Police Department confirmed one of its officers serving on the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force was also shot during the standoff.

"When a law enforcement officer puts on that shield in the morning and heads out the door, their family members dread the phone call – the very call that came today. It’s like losing a piece of your soul. To the families of those we lost: Jill and I, and all Americans, are here for you. And we will always be here for you," Biden said in a statement. #News #Crime
