GREEN PEAS AND YELLOW RICE STEP BY STEP |RICE AND PEAS HAITIAN STYLE| GREAT FOR BEGINNERS

INGREDIENTS FOR EPIS ( SMALL AMOUNT)
3 different colors belle peppers (small pieces like you see in the video)
4 garlic cloves
1 green onion
1/2 cup of parsley
1 bonnet pepper (optional or less depending on spice level )
1 Maggie cube
1 Sazon package
2 tablespoon of vegetable oil

INGREDIENTS FOR RICE
1 10oz frozen bag of sweet peas
3 to 4 slices of a red Belle pepper (optional)
4 tablespoons of oil
2 tablespoons of tomato sauce or paste
1 chicken flavor bouillon (Maggie)(can sub for salt)
1 teaspoons of salt
1 teaspoon of a adobo
1 teaspoon of Badia complete seasoning (can sub for more adobo)
Thyme and parsley tied together
1 bonnet pepper ( optional )
1 13.5oz can of coconut milk (any brand)
2 cups of water
4 cups of jasmine rice ( I used madame gougouss jasmine rice)
1 tablespoon of butter
1 Teaspoon of black pepper (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1
Make epis if you don’t already have it
In a blender or food processor add
3 different colors belle peppers (small pieces like you see in the video)
4 garlic cloves
1 green onion
1/2 cup of parsley
1 bonnet pepper
1 Maggie cube
1 Sazon package
2 tablespoon of vegetable oil
Blend all the ingredients together until everything is nice and smooth then place it into a container that has a cover and put it in refrigerator for later use.

Step 2
cut up 4 slices of red bell peppers

Step 3
Put a medium bowl on the stove at medium high heat 6/7. Add 4 tablespoons of oil to the pot when the oil get hot add 1 tablespoons of a Epis(the creole seasoning we made prior) let the epis fry in the pot for about two minutes then add the sweet peas
Let the peas fry in the epis then add the
cut up Bell peppers
2 tablespoons of tomato sauce or paste
Let cook for 1 minute then add
1 10oz bag of sweet peas
Let cook for about 2 to 3 minutes then add
1 chicken flavor bouillon (Maggie)
1 teaspoons of salt
1 teaspoon of a adobo
1 teaspoons of Badia complete seasoning

Mix all the seasoning into the peas then add
Thyme and parsley tied together and
1 bonnet pepper
Mix well and let cook for 1 to 2 minutes (make sure you are scraping the bottom when you’re mixing)
Then add one can of coconut milk let the coconut milk cook for about 4 minutes

Step 6
Add 2 cups of the water in to the pot and let that cook until it begins to boil. Once the water start to boil add 4 cups of rice into the pot. Mixing the rice into the water as seen in a video. Let the rice cook for 4 to 5 minutes.

When water is almost absorbed by rice turn down heat to low heat three or two add 1 tablespoon of butter And 1 Teaspoon of black pepper (optional) mix the butter until it has dissolved into the rice. Cover the pot with aluminum foil and cover the aluminum foil with a lid let cook UNDISTURBED for 30 to 45 minutes.
