This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new BMW X1 subcompact SUV. The 2023 X1 has a revised 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, 241 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, that’s up 13 horsepower and 37 lb-ft of torque from the outgoing model. Standard AWD. You will get about 644 km/400 miles on a full tank of gas.

The all-new BMW X1 has grown by almost 2” in height and length and almost an inch in width.
It has a clean exterior design, a muscular stance with some rugged design elements including, a pronounced front end and a large BMW kidney grille. It comes standard with LED headlights with cornering lights, LED taillights with an L shaped design which we see on other X models, a tire repair kit, run-flat tires, 18” wheels, available 19” and 20” wheels, a first for the X1 with performance non run-flat tires.

The all-new BMW X1 comes standard with a 10.25” digital driver display, 10.7” touchscreen, the new BMW iDrive 8 operating system with navigation, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, power front seats with driver seat memory, ambient lighting and a power tailgate.

The all-new BMW X1 starts at $45,800 CAD/$38,600 USD. You can add a few packages to get extra features like the panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless charger, head-up display, 360-camera and the Harman Kardon Sound system. There are also appearance packages including the M Sport Package which ups the sportiness including black exterior accents, adaptive M suspension and an M sport steering wheel with paddle shifters.

BMW has improved the seat comfort in the X1 for the standard seats as well as the sport seats which feature side bolsters, shoulder support and adjustability of the seat angle and depth. The standard Sensatec upholstered seats come in a variety of colours from oyster to a coral red/black combo, mocha or black.

For Fuel Economy, this crossover gets 9.6L/100 km, 25 MPG city and 7.0L/100 km, 34 MPG highway.
