Loki Kitty just recently turned 6 months old, so we tried giving him catnip for the first time. Instead of just giving him straight up catnip at first, we put it inside a catnip toy.

He became very possessive of this new toy, and definitely did not want to share with me! He was abnormally growly, and hissy. Eventually he settled down, and played with it like normal.
