UAV Aerial Drone Visions: The Salton Sea at Obsidian Butte, California

My name is Gerald Peplow. I am a FAA Part 107 certified UAV pilot. This video is from my series, “UAV Drone Visions.” This series documents my road to UAV Proficiency. I currently fly a registered DJI Mini 2 or Mini 3. This is my Mini 3, Cong Ming Niao (Smart Bird). Finally I have a Mavic 3 called Da Niao, Big Bird. Today Da Niao got to fly! We were on a trip to skirt the Salton Sea and stopped by here to catch the images of the Sea and the surrounding area. We heard about Obsidian Butte from the Visitor Center so we took the drive to the South Salton Sea. Here we found the volcanic area with Geothermal Plants, the Mud Pots, and, of course, piles of Obsidian Glass. This is magma the cooled quickly and made lava with small crystals.

We explored the area and then took some home. Every time I see formations and places like this I am impressed with all the Science around me.
