I've been segment-hiking The Colorado Trail with my dogs for the last seven years. This season, I finally finished it.

I had 111.3 miles left, beginning with Segment 23. The plan was to do Segments 23-28 all at once; however, one of the dogs injured a paw and I took both dogs off trail at the end of Segment 24. This video is that first part of the CT finish: Segment 23 & 24, with a friend and the dogs.

Two weeks later, I returned to complete the remaining 75 miles by myself. That trip will be a second video, coming soon.

Enormous thanks to Cash Terry, who for the last few years has gone above and beyond to get me back on this trail and moving toward the southern terminus, or "finish line." He has shuttled me across some of the most remote parts of Colorado, when there were no other shuttlers available. This season he drove 4.5 hours one way just to try to get us up Wager Gulch Road in his Subaru (of course, he made plans to do some climbing in the area, too, but still...). When the road ended up being far too rough for the Subie, he felt awful that we would have to hike up the road to reach the beginning of the trail. I cannot fully articulate what it means to have friends like Cash, who 'get' why I do what I do, why I live the way I live, why I dream the way I dream. He gets it because he lives for the same experiences. "Here's to the crazy ones..." Here's to you, Cash. Thank you. 🙏
