Hey Guys,
I have a quick video here for you today on how I resolved the error 110 on my Navien hot water on demand system. I showered this morning and the hot water system was functioning as expected. Just a few hours later, I turned on the kitchen facet and the water was slightly warm and then quickly went cold.
I came down here to the basement and saw error 110 and this wrench or service symbol on the screen. I looked up the error and basically, it means there is an air pressure issue. The unit cannot vent out the exhaust pipe or it cannot suck enough air into the unit.
Since it’s -30 Celsius today (-22f), let’s run outside and see if there is any ice buildup.

The next step is to check the internal air intake filter, so let’s power the unit down and remove the cover.

Here in the upper lefthand corner there is a small handle and a screw. Let’s remove that screw. Be careful not to drop the screw because it’s quite a maze inside of there to be searching for a missing screw. I’ll slide the filter out and bring it to the bathroom for cleaning.

So check this out. So much grass and dirt in there. My air intake is only 3 feet off the ground and any passing grass or prairie dust gets sucked in. Let’s get this cleaned out.

That’s it. I reinstalled the filter and turned the unit back on again. No more error code and the hot water is back on. I have made a calendar reminder to clean out the filter every year.
