There's a whole lot of sanding going on! While we finalise the order for our materials to rework the interior of the boat, Mike catches up on some long but rewarding jobs - more grinding and filling of gelcoat cracks, and working the hardtop to a high polish.

Polishing the hardtop is part of a longer experiment to see how realistic it is to recoat the decks with gelcoat, sand it back and get it to a high polish finish. Turns out, it's not realistic at all but hey, since the gelcoat was already on, how hard can it be? Very hard! It's taken a total of 5 coats and about 20 hours of sanding to get to this point. We'll be using topside paint to do the rest of the decks and topside, but we will need to use gelcoat on the hull so we will use these skills.

Having got the remaining forward deck hardware off the boat in the last episode, Mike also patches some extensive cracks using our tried and tested grind-fill-sand-repeat method - this time, with much better camera work!

Next episode we'll be cutting out the freshwater tank and removing the sole from the forward cabin, preparing to remove the forward cabin bulkhead, and doing some more work on the hull. And yes, that means sanding and filling ;)
