We diagnose and repair an issue with the starter not turning over the engine properly.

We see people chasing this issue and replacing the starter, battery or solenoid thinking the issue is electrical but still having the issue of the mower sometimes not turning over or turning over slowly

One time it would start but the next time it would not spin. It would get stuck on the compression stroke and hang up there.

The dealer quoted a new camshaft thinking the low speed compression release on it was bad.

The common symptoms of an issue like this will be the engine turning over slowly, the starter hanging up, engine will not turn over or starting slow.

They should have checked this first!

We find the ACTUAL problem from there and repair it so they do not have any further issues.

After repairing this part, we also find the ignition coil (armature-magneto) has gone bad so we replace it also

This is on a John Deere mower Model D130 riding mower with a Briggs & Stratton 40777-0170-G5 engine

We love how well these Briggs & Stratton engine run!
