Eighty years ago, on January 27, 1945, the Red Army entered Auschwitz, the largest Nazi death camp. Between 1941 and 1945, over a million Jews were deported there, almost all of whom were murdered in gas chambers.
As early as 1942, the Allies had precise information on the systematic massacre of Jews and other minorities in Europe: aerial photographs, testimonies from escapees... Why didn't they immediately launch raids to stop the atrocities committed in the camps? Could they have stopped the Holocaust sooner?
