In Germany's epic mythical age, the great blond Teutonic hero Siegfried ventured up the Rhine River, which inspired Richard Wagner to compose "Siegfried's Rhine Journey." In a similar fashion - but with all the mod cons a Viking river cruise ship could supply, including a small army of staff bringing up trays of hot chocolate - we did a Rhine Journey of our own, marveling at many castles and attractive buildings.
