Of all the new iPhones released this year, the new iPhone 14 Plus in some ways is the most interesting to me. Today I will be talking about my experience switching from my iPhone 13 to the iPhone 14 Plus. I will be sharing what I love about this phone, as well as what I like less. The iPhone 14 Plus’s most compelling feature is, you can now get the larger Pro Max display and battery, at a much more affordable price, which may just make the 14 Plus the new best value iPhone out right now. What’s new? iPhone 14 Plus is a new category of iPhone, replacing the iPhone 13 mini. Design and display. Familiar squared off design from iPhone 13 - looks great in Midnight colour. Same notch, FaceID still fast and reliable. Now you can get that big 6.7” display for a much more attractive price. Perfect if you consume a lot of content on your phone. Which size is right for you? Will depend on how you use your phone. For me, as someone who previously always used the regular 6.1” size, going up to the 6.7” 14 Plus was easier than I thought. You get more room for everything; text, menus, videos and larger keyboard are such nice quality of life improvements - after a couple of weeks now, I don’t see myself going back to the smaller 6.1”. 800 nits brightness - not as bright as 14 Pro but still visible outdoors. Performance and battery. 14 Plus has the best battery life I’ve ever had on any iPhone. 10-11hrs of screen-on time (9-10hrs Pro Max). Means almost 2 full days of use! What about performance? This year only 14 Pro’s get Apple’s latest A16 Bionic processor. While iPhone 14 Plus and 14 keep A15 Bionic. I can tell you from having all iPhone 14 models, difference between the A15 and A16, when it comes to normal daily use, is not noticeable, and will only show in exports times or loading big games or years down the road. The iPhone 14 Plus adds 2 new safety features, crash detection and emergency SOS via satellite. Camera. Main wide lens has larger sensor and faster aperture. Are photos hugely different from iPhone 13? Not really. Differences only visible in low light scenarios, where iPhone 14 gets brighter and retains more detail. However, compared to the broader smartphone competition, the dual lens camera system on the iPhone 14 Plus is impressive and still amongst the best. Should you upgrade to the iPhone 14 Plus? iPhone 14 Plus gives 2 big reasons to upgrade: Larger 6.7” display for a much lower price, Best ever battery life in an iPhone. If one or both of these speak to you, go for it, the iPhone 14 Plus is an excellent all-round phone with no big drawbacks. For the price, with the larger display and battery, the iPhone 14 Plus offers even better value compared to the iPhone 14. This makes iPhone 14 Plus the best value iPhone. If you are on an iPhone 11, X, 8 and want to upgrade to the larger 6.7” size, this is the perfect time to do so!
