How To Turn A Wooden Flower

This week I show you how I turned a wooden flower, Its a pretty quick project and it would be a good beginner project. It will make a great Valentines day, Mothers day, Or Anniversary gift! Lets get started!
I am using a scrap piece of wood that's roughly 2" x 2" x 3" I drilled a 3/4 inch hole halfway through the long side and then drilled the rest of the way through the blank with a 3/8" drill bit. Next I sketched a couple of curves to cut out on the band saw (as shown in the video) Once it was all cut out it was time to mount it to the lathe. I used a jam Chuck and a 60 degree cone to mount the piece, And simply turned it to the shape I wanted. Once it was all sanded I applied a finish. Then all that was left was to put a stem on it. I used a 3/8" dowel rod for the stem.
