Since the Edo period, (1603-1867) the Tokyo area has lost many of its historical buildings due to war, earthquakes, fires and more. In 1933, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government established a seven-hectare area inside Koganei park, called the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

The primary function of this museum is to preserve and exhibit historical buildings and artifacts that are of cultural value. This is being done by relocating or reconstructing these historic buildings from their original locations to within the Museum Park.

Many of the building in this video were constructed within the Tokyo area during the early Edo to mid Showa (1926-1989) periods.
