Fruit tree orchards are usually established in a land that is a habitat for different wild animals like bucks, deers, bush pigs, porcuppines, etc. These animals feed on different plants that are in that environment. When humans plant crops there, animals are likely to feed on them which will delay production. Fencing an orchard protects the crops from animals feeding on them.
