#5 DSG or Direct Shift Gearbox is an electronically controlled Dual clutch Gearbox with a fully automatic or semi automatic gear selection.The first DCT Transmission was developed and produced by Porsche in the 1980's. (Borg Warner designed the DSG transmition 15-20 years ago). It was made for the Porsche 962 Race car. The DSG transmition automates 2 seperate gearboxes and clutches working as 1 unit. (Similiar to the DCT Transmition). By using 2 Independant clutches the DSG transmission can achieve faster shift times compared to a manual transmission, and requires no tourque converter.

#4 DCT or Dual Clutch Transmission is an Automated Manual Transmission, DCT is closely related to manual transmissions.DCT transmissions use 2 seperate clutches for odd and even gear sets, they're also known as 2 seperate manual transmissions. They're also both encased within 1 housing and working together as 1.

#3 Semi Auto, Stronic or Semi automatic transmission is a combination between an auto and a manual transmission. It has an automated clutch and a shifting mechanism that allows the driver to shift manually. This allows for more controlled gear selections.

#2 AT, Automated or Automatic transmission also known as the self shifting transmission is the type of transmission that would automatically change gears as the car moves (obviously), I mean its the most commonly known transmission. Technically the driver deosn't have to shift gears manually. This transmission is best suited for higher speeds and higher tourque outputs.

#1 CVT or Continueously Variable Transmission also known as the shiftless transmission is the only auto transmission that can smoothly and continueously move through gear ratios.(they dont have real gears like the manual or the automatic transmission), this allows for more maintained angular velocity. Angular velocity is how fast an object that rotates another point or position. (Look up CVT angular velocity). Anywaysthe CVT transmission is 88% more efficiency than any transmission allowing the engine to have smooth power delivery, maximize its reliability and run at a stable and constant speed.
Even a Belt driven CVT transmission offers nearly the same amount of efficiency as well. Honda's, Toyota's, Lexuses, Kia's, and Nissans have produced a ton of cars with CVT transmissions. Honda's CVT transmissions are more reliable than other lineups with CVT transmissions.
