Rant below:
I've had this idea in my head for a while, so I'm not going to bash myself too hard, but lately I've been doing a sort of deep dive into how I interpret fannon, and how the content I want to see often times isn't popular. Namely, almost every tv show and movie and comic book I love, I often think could be vastly improved if the main characters of the series were women. I have pretty bad insomnia, and when I'm too keyed up to work and can't calm my anxiety down enough to fall asleep, I put in my headphones, pace around the hallway, and daydream about how good MHA would have been if Deku and Kacchan were girls.

But I'm so used to just making the main characters women in my mind, that I overlook the developed female characters in the story, and how the dynamics I'm always looking for might just be right in front of me.

I feel like everyone underestimates Ochaco specifically, because she gets in the way of BakuDeku, because her story often takes a back seat to the main plot, because we're all so used to seeing the female love interest as annoying and unnecessary and not quite feeling real due to the author overlooking them. But Ochaco isn't just the love interest, she's INTERESTING, and flawed, and has her own goals and dreams and ambitions outside of Deku, and honestly? If we want to see more of her in fannon like we keep claiming, we're gonna have to start with ourselves. If no one else is making the content, WE have to do it. We can't keep begging for female rep if we keep rejecting the GOOD female characters. Ochaco has just as much untapped potential and shippable traits as Deku, bc she's a parallel of his character, and I want to see more, so I'm gonna make it myself. Rant over, have a great day lol.
