SadBoy Loko promised a new and unique sound in 2022 and with German Castro’s vocals and an incomparable beat by Cricket, he delivered just that in his latest visual “Controlando Las Calles.” “Controlando Las Calles'' is the latest in a series of releases this year which includes his collaboration with Billboard top-charting artist Kap G and YBE, “Palm Trees,” both of which will be featured in his upcoming album “Sin Fronteras,” set to drop this July.

Sadboy’s new music reflects his evolution in both mindset and style. Previously signed to YG’s 4Hunnid record label, he has now partnered with Prajin Records to bring a sound unlike any other, and “Controlando Las Calles' ' is the exact expression of that.

The strings of a guitar and the squeeze of an accordion open the scene to Mexican flags and California face tats, before the beat drops and a duet between Regional Mexican and Hip-Hop begins. German Castro’s Spanish lyrics sing of “squared shirts, buttoned up to the collar” and “Nike Cortez’s” while SadBoy’s verse carries the viewer through the streets of Santa Barbara, like Canon Perdido and Milpas Street . SadBoy and Castro take the viewer through a local mini mart, under an overpass with the homies, to the pool hall and anywhere they would normally be on Friday night in California.

George Prajin, CEO of innovative label Prajin Records, executive produced the video to “Controlando Las Calles,” together with D$tructive Filmz. Labelmate and multi-platinum producer Cricket was the mind behind the perfect melding of the traditional instruments used in the Regional genre with a heavy Hip-Hop beat.

Under the support of Prajin Records and the can’t miss production of Cricket, SadBoy Loko continues to showcase his versatility while creating an inimitable style that Hip-Hop didn’t know it needed.

SadBoy Loko is a hardworking father, businessman, and gifted rapper from Santa Barbara, California. No stranger to the music industry, his precise delivery, and lyrical flow captivated the crowds and caught the attention of Japanese music executives who heard him perform at a DUB Show. Weeks later, he was touring cities like Tokyo and Osaka. Soon, he catapulted into the spotlight, sharing songs and stages with other artists like YG and the late Slim 400, ultimately signing with 4Hunnid Records. During that time, he released hit songs such as “Gang Signs,” which amassed over 65M views, and “Bruisin” with YG and Slim 400, which reached 34M views. A hobby turned passion, rap opened the doors for SadBoy to cultivate his talent and have his voice heard. Recognizing the power in his words, he now makes it his purpose to direct them at the youth to help them find strength through his music to overcome their struggles. Most recently, he has found the perfect place to continue to do just that at Prajin Records. When he met multi-platinum producer Cricket, he immediately knew it was the place to help him continue to build his legacy. Cricket is renowned in the industry for the unique way he fuses Mexican regional with rap and is credited as one of the originators of this distinct musical style. It was this sound that aligned perfectly with what SadBoy was looking for. “I’ve always wanted to do regional stuff for my people, the first time we linked up it was a vibe and felt like home,” the rapper said. His upcoming projects include an album that boasts features from regional music star Lupillo Rivera, as well as Jorge Gamboa, Aleman, and MC Magic. SadBoy hopes to put his versatility on display, as well as his Mexican and West Coast heritage, by skillfully combining sounds and styles not typically heard. With a message of positivity and the support of Prajin Music Group behind him, SadBoy Loko will undoubtedly continue to make his mark on music history.
