Typical E46 Valve Cover/Oil Leaks, but not anymore! In this video, I install a modified M56 valve cover from an SULEV E46. On top of that I had this valve cover modified to relocate the oil filler neck to the stock M56 CCV location. As a result, the stock CCV system has been gutted and replaced with two 10an bungs to run a proper vent to atmosphere catch can setup. And the icing on the cake? The front of the valve cover has been shaved to be smooth as a baby's bottom.
I used a catch can that I found off amazon to replace my existing catch can setup. It does have some baffling (obviously not $100 catch can kind of baffling), and it has two 10an bungs to match my new valve cover. This should be a lot more free flowing than my prior setup.
I exclusively used duplicolor paint for the valve cover as follows:
- 1 can, 2 light coats, 1 medium coat of silver metallic engine enamel with ceramic
- 1.25 cans, 2 light coats, 2 medium coats of blue metalcast anodized coating
- 1 can, 2 light coats, 2 medium/heavy coats of engine enamel gloss clear.
For re-pinning the M56 harness, see 50skid's video for the m56 valve cover swap
