The PM is in Germany on a defence tour, so Deputy PM Oliver Dowden is stepping in.

Peter Cardwell says PMQs was “insult central” and thinks the exchange between the two deputies were far more entertaining than the usual exchanges between Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer.

Dowden said: “It is a pleasure to have another exchange with the Right Honourable Lady in this house, our fifth in 12 months.”

Rayner took no prisoners, starting her first question to the DPM by making reference to the ongoing investigation into the sale of her council house..
