. . .

Looking out our front door,
looking into his eyes,
what a wonder we are here,
for a while, hope the blue
bells stay for a while.
want to hear it simply,
my love (but oh,
the air’s grown sullen).

Though the season’s change
hollow frames remain
eyes do grieve enough
for senses dulled by touch.

So do you think it can stay?
do you think it will wait?
well I’ve lost my love of time,
I’ve found I’m mostly blind,
I have walked my arrow’s path
(does nothing last?)

Do you still see it
in the evening? In the
soft, dead pose
of our shadows?
In the tipping light
of a too full moon,
with the shallow might of a body, where the
wind does blow the cottonwood,
in the wake of what
is understood,
understood…

So do you,
think it can stay?
Do you think it will wait?
I have lost my love of time,
I have found I’m mostly blind,
I have round my arrow’s path,
oh may the blue bells last?
